Jobspotting Releases The Berlin Startup Salary Report

Today, we’re beyond excited to release The Berlin Startup Salary Report – a comprehensive look into what real people – you! – are earning in Berlin.

Since April 2013, BerlinStartupJobs.com has hosted an anonymous survey that asked job seekers to fill in details about their salaries, their work experience, their industries and their level of contentment with their current roles.

3,388 people participated – thank you! – and for the last six months we’ve been collating, plotting, analysing, writing and designing to bring you the report as it is today. It’s been a long time coming and we’re really fired up about what we’ve achieved.

There’s a dedicated Salary Report page on the Jobspotting Journal where you can peruse the Executive Summary, or read the full report if you’re feeling energetic (pro tip: you should).

But before you dig in, you might be wondering why we feel this is so important. Up to now, there has been a serious lack of conclusive salary information on what people are earning in Berlin, or indeed in Germany.

This lack of basic transparency makes it incredibly hard for job candidates to know what to expect from a financial perspective, meaning they can’t make accurate professional decisions, or negotiate their salary packet in an informed way.

As we state in our manifesto, Jobspotting is dedicated to supporting job seekers’ career decisions, to making it easier for people to find a great position, to fomenting transparency in the jobs market, and to making career changes exciting rather than stressful.

Berlin is a key hub of the European startup scene, and the city that Jobspotting calls home. As such, we felt it was crucial that job seekers – both local and international – understand precisely what they can expect from Berlin startups in financial and professional terms.

When you read the report, you’ll find answers to questions like:

  • How much does experience, age and education influence salaries?
